5. Malcolm Brogdon

Much like Bogdanovic, Malcolm Brogdon lands on this list for his defensive abilities and shooting skills. He doesn’t have the same name recognition as the other stars, but he is coming off of one of the most impressive individual seasons in years.

Brogdon finished last season ninth in Defensive Win Shares and received votes for the NBA All-Defensive teams. At 6-foot-5, Brogdon has the ability to guard both guard positions very well. He is also a solid defender when matched on taller players at the small forward spot. It makes him a very good player to have on the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively, Brogdon was just the seventh player to join the NBA’s 50/40/90 Club. He is one of the league’s best at shooting from anywhere on the court. With his size and ball-handling ability, he would play great alongside Young. It would give Young to take the defensive focus completely off of him.  It would also give Atlanta a second ball-handler, which would allow Young to roam freely without the ball.

While Brogdon would likely cut into potential minutes for players like Huerter and Kent Bazemore, it would give the Hawks great depth off the bench at the guard spots. Atlanta would likely welcome all the additions Brogdon would bring to the team.
