1. Klay Thompson

The Hawks and Klay Thompson almost seem like a match made in heaven, if the star decides to leave the Golden State Warriors. While it’s unlikely Thompson and the Warriors separate this offseason, Thompson did make it clear that if he doesn’t receive a max contract offer at the start of free agency he will field offers from other teams.

Atlanta can only hope that happens, and if it does they should be one of the first teams calling. Thompson has proven he can thrive in an offense with a shot-first point guard. After all, if Young is supposed to be the next Steph Curry, then who better to pair him with than Curry’s current wing-man?

Thompson and Young would make for one of the league’s best shooting back courts, and Thompson would bring some great defense to a team that desperately needs it. Thompson has been one of the league’s best perimeter defenders since he came into the league, and would be able to lock down any perimeter position on the opposing team.

The Hawks can’t go wrong with anyone on this list, but Thompson is by far the best fit. With draft picks, cap space and a great core to build around, Atlanta could be looking at a playoff team next season. If the young guys develop quickly, the Hawks could actually make some noise in the East.
