The Los Angeles Clippers are still here

After the Los Angeles Clippers decided that their big three of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan weren’t going to be able to win a championship, they dismantled the whole thing sending each star on their way in a matter of two years. With their leaders gone the general consensus was the Clippers were heading into rebuild mode and were going to be a draft lottery team for the next few years.

However, they proved that this was not the case. With no clear leader and just a group of serviceable players, Doc Rivers was able to coach his team into the playoffs. The Clippers actually lasted six games against the back-to-back defending champion Golden State Warriors which is much more than anyone expected them to do. The Clippers are in the best position in the NBA now with a functioning team and only a bright future ahead. No clear star above the rest means no one person taking all the teams salary cap which means that LA has room to sign two max contracts this summer.

There have been rumors all around of so many different superstars heading to the Clippers this offseason and one thing is for sure they are getting somebody. I don’t know who wouldn’t want to play for the Clippers when they have the money and the supporting cast that they do. Lou Williams is the best sixth man in the NBA and Montrezl Harrell and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are up and coming studs. Those assets along with Danilo Gallinari, Patrick Beverley, and Wilson Chandler who are all hungry to win a championship are more than enough of a very decent squad in need of a true leader.

The Los Angeles Clippers are doing everything right it seems despite how it looked after they sent away their old group of stars. This team is only going to get better, much better, and with the right centerpiece, I could see this team making it deep in the playoffs next year.
