The Denver Nuggets: a magical season in the mile-high city
Before the season started, in terms of playoffs teams like the Warriors, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and even the newly LeBron-fashioned Lakers were in the conversation. But when it comes to the Denver Nuggets, they were seen as a very low seeded first round exit at best. Instead, all expectations of them were blown through the roof as they went on to have one of the best seasons since the days of Andre Iguodala and Carmelo Anthony on the team.
The Nuggets were the 2nd seed in the playoffs and looked like the clear favorites to face the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. Although they fell short by losing to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round this team has nothing to be ashamed of as it exploded this season leaving high hopes for the next many to come. Nikola Jokic is a top three center in the league and his young weapons of Jamal Murray, Malik Beasley, and Michael Porter Jr. all have very bright futures ahead of them.
There’s been debate and speculation that this season was only a fluke for the Nuggets and that they will revert back to their usual level of play next season, but with the way things went for them this year who really knows. The Nuggets made themselves known with their young core and they’re only going to get better as time goes on. The future holds a lot of questions but as for right now, the Nuggets have a lot to be proud of.
This season was filled with surprises from all corners of the league. It only opens up and adds hype to what could possibly be down the road for next year. Very exciting times in the NBA as we draw closer to the NBA draft and the tip-off of the craziness of free agency. Game 5 of the NBA Finals is just days away as we draw closer to the conclusion of another terrific NBA season.
