Kyle Lowry is an icon in Canada, and he proved that once again in Game 5

Kyle Lowry showed why he is an icon for Canadian kids through his classy act of shutting down some of the Raptors fans reaction to Kevin Durant’s injury

"“Still alive.”"

That’s what Stephen Curry said after the Golden State Warriors won Game 5 and staved off elimination by one point. In what could’ve been a perfect ending for the Toronto Raptors, Kyle Lowry missed what would’ve been a game-winning 3-point shot.

Now, the Raptors will head back to The Bay for Game 6 up 3-2 in the series.

Despite this, Lowry has successfully shown the classy man that he is this week. It all started when he was caught off guard with a question from a kid during a press conference.

"“Mr. Lowry, how does it feel to be an icon all over Canada for kids?”"

As pure as the question is, Lowry found himself blown away to be asked this kind of question for the first time, not even wanting to proclaim himself as an icon. But a man gotta do what he’s gotta do, so he answered that he holds himself in a super-high standard knowing that there are some kids who want to be like him in the future.

In Game 5, he exemplified this professional manner as he tried to shut down the Raptors nation who questionably celebrated as Kevin Durant fell off the floor and limped off his way to the exit. The crowd was heard cheering and others even waved goodbye.

Lowry, along with Serge Ibaka, checked on KD immediately and addressed the fans to stop whatever reaction they’re pulling off. That’s when the fans came to their senses and actually shifted to chanting “KD! KD! KD!” to applaud what he has done for his team.

Their first cheering act was a total opposite of the Jimmy Kimmel’s video where they asked Canadians to trash talk Golden State Warriors. Canadians are known to be polite, and tonight, Lowry showed that yes they are.

In the post-game interview, Lowry shared that they are all brothers in this league and he doesn’t want to see anyone go down like that – any aspiring basketball player should take note of.

Meanwhile, Golden State Warriors are motivated more than ever to do still finish this season strong and achieve a 3-peat for their brother, Kevin Durant.

Game 6 is scheduled on June 13. As of today, only LeBron James and the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers have been able to come back and beat a 3-1 NBA Finals deficit. Will the Warriors be the next team?
