NBA Rumors: According to a report, Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets might already be a done deal. However, it should be taken with a grain of salt.
The Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets smoke has come fast and furious over the last few weeks. However, I believe the saying is true – where there’s smoke there’s fire. With that said, almost everything as it pertains to free agency should be taken with a grain of salt at this point in the process.
Nevertheless, the facts are that the Kyrie to Nets movement is advancing fast. And made even more waves when Brooklyn traded multiple assets to shed salary last weeks. Even though free agency doesn’t officially start for another two weeks, there’s a report from the Boston Herald that suggests Kyrie to Brooklyn is a foregone conclusion.

"According to a source with ties to Roc Nation, the organization expected to become Irving’s new representative, the All-Star point guard is prepared to sign with the Brooklyn Nets when he becomes a free agent next month. A separate league source told the Herald that his team (not the Celtics) has received the same information and is operating under the belief that Irving wants to join the Nets."
This is an interesting report nonetheless, but I don’t think we can take it as gospel. NBA free agency is still more than two weeks and a lot can change between now and then. However, if you’re a half-glass-full kind of fan – or just a Nets fan – this has to be music to your ears.
I guess your initial reaction would be: OK, but who else are we getting? And that’s natural. Just last week the Nets made a trade that suggested more than one move in free agency – or possibly enough room to bring back D’Angelo Russell and sign a max player.
However, it is interesting that we’ve heard reports that suggest Kyrie and Kevin Durant have discussed the possibility of playing together – in Brooklyn or New York. Even though Durant’s recent injury certainly complicates matters, that could still very much be in play.
This offseason could be one for the history books, and the first domino may or may not have already fallen before its even begun.
