With the 29th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Spurs will take a chance on Bruno Fernando, a talented center out of Maryland. Fernando averaged a double-double last year at Maryland and showed the ability to protect the basket at a high level.
At the very least, that’s what you want from a big taken in the first round. And landing with the Spurs is an ideal scenario for any player in the draft. Fernando would be no exception, as he would be able to learn next to LaMarcus Aldridge.
If any team is going to bring back the center position in a big way, it could be the Spurs. Who, in the past, have had a lot of success with a talented big man.
