With Jarrett Culver off the board, the Cleveland Cavaliers take the safe route by selecting De’Andre Hunter out of Virginia with the 5th pick. While they could take a chance on another higher ceiling prospect, adding a player like Hunter could end up being invaluable in the long run.
Hunter has the ability to be a great defender in the NBA and has proved that he could be a good 3-point shooter. He’s the ideal 3-and-D player that every good team requires, and would be a good fit next to Collin Sexton and Kevin Love – if the team decides to bring him back next season.
The Cavs will now have two big pieces as they continue to build for the future, with possibly adding a third if they could find the right deal for Love. Keep an eye on Cleveland, as they could be busy on Draft night.
