The New York Knicks missed out on Anthony Davis, but still have plenty of options going into this offseason. Here are five stars to target this free agency.

The New York Knicks arguably had the most momentum going into the 2019 offseason. With two max salary spots available and just as good of odds to land Zion Williamson as anyone, the Knicks looked poised to make a splash.

However, things didn’t start well for New York. The Draft Lottery wasn’t kind to the franchise. Fans had hopes up repeating their luck from the 1985 lottery, but things didn’t quite play out that way. The Knicks ended up with the third overall pick, which threw a wrinkle into their offseason rebuilding plans. Fortunately, New York had another big move in mind: trading for superstar power forward Anthony Davis.

For most of the season, the Knicks were the most linked team to land Davis. Things looked especially nice for the Knicks since the Los Angeles Lakers were essentially shut out of the Davis trade sweepstakes. However, things didn’t quite work out again for New York. Davis was traded to the Lakers for a package containing Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks, one of which was the Lakers 4th overall pick in the 2019 draft.

After receiving another blow to their rebuild, the Knicks were down to one last option, but what a great last resort it is. New York has approximately $68 million in cap space and has plenty of options to consider. Here are five stars to target after missing out on Davis.
