I have no idea what the Suns are doing

For a minute, the stars were lining up for the Phoenix Suns to finally fill their point guard need. Then, they traded out of the top 10 for Dario Saric. After acquiring the 11th pick, the Suns elected to take Cameron Johnson out of North Carolina – a 3-point specialist that, I supposed, will bring some added shooting to Phoenix.

Nevertheless, had Phoenix stayed at 6, they could’ve dynamic point guard Coby White (who eventually fell to the Bulls). The only real sense this makes is that the team didn’t like White, but, again, this was a move that was made before the NBA Draft even started. So we can’t buy that narrative.

Oh, and they also traded T.J. Warren for essentially nothing. Just to get off the contract. Well, for cash. In essence, nothing. The Suns did eventually take a point guard, selecting Ty Jerome with the 24th pick in the first round.

Still, I don’t think anyone expects Jerome to be the team’s starter when the season gets underway. So, either the Suns know something we all don’t – that they could perhaps land D’Angelo Russell in free agency – or they don’t even know what they’re doing.

Either way, it’s on brand for them.
