Ja Morant Goes to the Grizzlies

For the last half-decade, the Memphis Grizzlies have been synonymous with Grit N’ Grind. But after the trades of franchise stalwarts Marc Gasol and, more recently, Mike Conley, this team was in desperate need of a new face.

Enter Ja Morant.

In a regular draft, one without an electrifying talent like Zion Williamson, Morant would be hailed as the franchise-changing potential star at the top. Even though he had to settle for second billing, casual fans and avid basketball watchers still gravitated to Morant’s unique blend of speed, vision, and controllable athleticism.

While the outlook in Memphis right now is pretty bleak, Morant will be able to step in as the lead guard right away, and will seemingly have a long leash to make mistakes, learn from them and adapt to the NBA game. He’ll also have Jaren Jackson Jr. and, in time, that duo could form one of the more potent two-man combos in the league.
