The most bizarre signing: Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers

Carmelo Anthony has been the candidate for this position over the past few years, and there’s a good chance he’ll be the person to fill it again. In fact, the bizarre free agency Carmelo Anthony signing has become so common over the last few years in the NBA, it was almost a category on this list.

Still, the chances for Anthony to go to LA and join LeBron James seem fairly high. The Lakers are in need of cheap, short-term players, who LeBron trusts and will have good chemistry with, and Carmelo fits the bill nicely in that role. The question is, really, will he take it?

Anthony made it clear last year that he doesn’t want to come off the bench, but with the Lakers unlikely to offer him a starting spot consider the depth they have with Kyle Kuzma, James, and now AD, it will be interesting to see in Anthony’s long-time friend in LeBron can convince him to take a lesser role, for more money.
