The Grizzlies took Ja Morant, the pure point guard out of Murray State, with the 2nd pick of the draft.

Another pick that seemed to be accepted by everyone that was going to happen, there were some questions if the Pelicans were going to trade up to the second pick to get RJ, but the pick stayed and the Grizz got their guy. Morant has a very high ceiling, not as high as Zion’s, but his ceiling would be a perennial All-Star.

Similar to Zion, he is very athletic and bouncy, and that could cause his floor to occur. His floor would be injuries derailing his career, making his career similar to post knee injury Derrick Rose, not an awful career, but not what people imagined him to be.

NBA comparison: Pre-Knee injuries Derrick Rose

Ja may shoot better coming into the league than Rose did, but the athleticism and scoring ability is what drives the comparison for me. The passing ability of Morant may be better than Rose coming in as well, but Derrick Rose was stronger coming into the league, but I would assume Ja will gain some strength as his career progresses.
