NBA: Ceilings, floors, and comparisons for the 2019 draft lottery picks
By Cole Raines
The Wizards took Rui Hachimura, the lengthy forward out of Gonzaga, with the 9th pick of the draft.
A strong finisher, and with his length, a very good defender. Rui is one of the more interesting picks in the draft with his unique body style. He displayed very good feel around the rim and showed he could knock down a mid-range jumper. His ceiling determines if he can hit a 3 point shot as the league is transitioning to more shooting, if he develops it and hits it efficiently, Rui could be a starting forward/sixth man for a playoff team. His floor could be a bench piece on a playoff contending team, with his length, athleticism, and defense, Rui will be a key piece on any team defensively.
NBA comparison: Athletic Taj Gibson
Rui displays the consistency that Taj showed on the Bulls teams that competed in the playoffs. He has more length and athleticism, but the mid-range shooting and strength reminds me of younger Taj.
