Charlotte Hornets – Make Kemba Walker’s loyalty worthwhile

Kemba Walker is just about the only upside to being a Charlotte Hornets fan. Otherwise, you’re looking at just a year after year of maybe making the playoffs if they’re lucky. Still, despite the mediocrity Charlotte’s endured, their All-Star point Guard has always stayed true to the team that drafted him.

Many question why, but one can assume it’s just out of Walker’s love for the city that took him in as a kid out of UConn. Regardless of why he’s staying, there are so many better opportunities out there for him on better teams who are interested in signing Kemba this offseason. However, there are many that expect him to say in Charlotte.

The Hornets should thank their lucky stars they have such loyalty in such a talented player. There are several better and worse than Kemba who have left better teams than Charlotte to join championship contenders. So it is almost owed to Walker for Charlotte to improve the team around him for success.

Many attempts have been made, but it’s just been one bad contract after another clogging up the cap room for better free agents to come. Charlotte’s situation looks grim with no real solution for finding talent to accompany Kemba, but they have to try. Walker, as great as he is, can’t carry a team to even the playoffs consistently, and if they don’t find accessible support soon they’ll never make it anywhere in the league.
