NBA: One way each team can improve next season
Memphis Grizzlies – Use trade imports to build around Morant
The Memphis Grizzlies let go of two of their longest running veterans in Marc Gasol and Mike Conley by trading them away to start over and rebuild. As disheartening as it was for Grizzlies fans to see two of their franchise’s most admirable players go, it was best for the team.
Now Memphis can go full steam ahead in developing the younger players. Memphis drafted star point guard Ja Morant out of Murray State this year and have made all the right moves to appoint him the new franchise player. The Grizzlies also got some valuable assets from their trades that they can use for the future to gather support for Morant.
Future picks, role players, and young potential all came forward when Conley and Gasol took their exits making this a win-win for both the vets and the franchise.
