San Antonio Spurs – Get help for DeRozan and Aldridge

DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge are both phenomenal players who can lead a team to the playoffs. But aside from the two All-Stars, San Antonio doesn’t have much to offer. One cannot expect this team to take on the best of the West and come out on top. They lack the star power and depth to match up against the league’s best.

Perhaps trading Patty Mills and Davis Bertans who are taking up a considerable amount of cap could be a step in the right direction. Or providing some help in the backcourt for DeRozan and not just solely relying on the hope that Dejounte Murray is going to be the same player he was before his ACL injury just a year ago. Unlike most middle-grade teams, the San Antonio Spurs aren’t a lost cause and with the right front office moves could get themselves back in the running for championships.

The Spurs were the 7th seed in the playoffs last year and while they did put up a good fight against the Nuggets, they ended up falling to them in seven games. LaMarcus Aldridge is 34 years old and isn’t getting any younger.

If the Spurs want to remain a formidable force in the West they have to grab the weapons they need before Aldridge’s time is up in this league. For San Antonio, time is up against them, but with smart decisions, by the GM and administration, they have the ability to stay afloat.
