Portland Trail Blazers – Add depth
The Portland Trail Blazers have one of the best backcourt duos in the league in Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. Jusuf Nurkic is a great center and Al-Farouq Aminu and Maurice Harkless are serviceable frontcourt players. Other than their starters, their next best player may just be recently acquired Enes Kanter, who wasn’t even on the team until the postseason when Nurkic broke his leg.
The Blazers have very very little help for Lillard and his starters. If Portland had an above-average bench they could really be a challenge for the best in the West, but unfortunately once a new rotation comes in the team almost always loses the lead if they even had it to begin with. This struggle game after game only excessively increases Lillard’s workload being the number one option for Portland and it can come at a cost.
There’s simply just too much for one All-Star player to handle for the whole team. The Blazers did do a good job grabbing role-playing shooters like Rodney Hood and Seth Curry, but the offense isn’t where they have the most issues. Just recently, the Blazers continued to fix their depth by trading for Kent Bazemore. A great move by Portland to help their bench grow in strength. Portland’s shown signs of improvement where they need it most. Let’s hope they continue down this path.
