Kyrie Irving (UFA)

At this point, it’s practically a given that Kyrie Irving will not be returning as a member of the Celtics; he’s already declined his player option and the damage his unorthodox personality has caused in that locker room is irreparable. Obviously, the question is, where does he go next?

Ever since the Celtics got bounced out of the playoffs by the Bucks, the Kyrie to Brooklyn train has picked up major steam. Other reports even hinted at a possible reunion with LeBron James in the City of Angels. Aside from that, it’s highly doubtful any high-end free agent will consider going to the Knicks (aside from one person in particular, who could provoke a domino effect).

With that being said, there is simply too much smoke to start a fire with those Brooklyn rumors. In the eyes of many, this will prove to be a mistake; after all, just use last season as a reference. But if he and a man who’s first name starts with a K decide to join forces in Brooklyn, things will obviously be different.

Verdict: Kyrie Irving heads to The Borough of Trees.
