The Cleveland Cavaliers are not ready to trade Kevin Love just yet, and that might be the smart play as they wait for the right deal
While no one really expects the Cleveland Cavaliers to make much noise during the 2019-20 season, there is growing optimism surrounding the young core that this team has has begun to assemble.
Beginning with last year’s draft in which they added Collin Sexton and continuing to this year’s draft where they added Darius Garland and Kevin Porter Jr., the future is bright for the young Cavs. However, one interesting asset that the team has yet to cash in is Kevin Love, who could provide the franchise with even more to add to their young core.
Though, at least from recent reports, the Cavs are still not ready to pull the trigger on a Love trade. Even though they hold this stance at the moment, I firmly believe that the Cavs will eventually comg around on the idea to trade Love.

It simply makes too much sense, and Love doesn’t fit the timeline of what Cleveland is building. The Cavs will eventually cash in on the Love asset, and it’s actually the smart play for the team to play the waiting game.
Cleveland could theoreteically move Love now, though it might not be one that maxamizes their asset. Love only played in 22 games last season, and moving him now might not even net a first-round pick. Love’s value might be at an all-time low, something that could only grow by waiting a few months when he returns to the floor.
And, in the meantime, Love could actually help in the locker room to offer a much needed veteran presence to the team’s young core. Love has been and seen it all – from playing alongside LeBron James en route to an NBA Championship to playing for the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves during the first few years of his career.
Being patient when it comes to trade Kevin Love is the smart play for the Cavs. Not only will Love begin to rebuild his reputation (along with his trade value), but he could offer the team’s current roster with a steady presnece.
Kevin Love will ultimately be traded, but the Cleveland Cavaliers pulling the trigger right now doesn’t make much sense.
