Heading into the summer, many expected this offseason to be remembered for where the top free agents landed. While we’ll always remember Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving changing the landscape of the league by inking with the Brooklyn Nets, there were two huge trades that made this offseason even grander.
And both came with demands, which has been the narrative for blockbuster trades in the NBA as of late. Paul George and Russell Westbrook both – for one reason or another – demanded a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder and found their way to the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets, respectively.
It’s almost become a yearly tradition, where we see a star player demand a trade elsewhere. And with the players holding almost all the power in the league at the moment, teams pretty much don’t have much of a say when a star player becomes set on being traded.
Whether it’s good for the league or not is not what today’s talking point will be. Instead, we’ll try to predict which big-name will be the next to “demand” a fresh start. Here are the best eight candidates.
