NBA: 5 teams that made the biggest splash in free agency
By Kyle Crabbe
1. Los Angeles Lakers
Additions:
Anthony Davis (Trade), Avery Bradley (FA), Danny Green (FA), DeMarcus Cousins (FA), Quinn Cook (FA)
Subtractions:
Lonzo Ball (Trade), Brandon Ingram (Trade), Tyson Chandler (FA), Josh Hart (Trade)
By finally landing Anthony Davis – after many months of rumors – the Los Angeles Lakers land No. 1 on this list. The addition of Anthony Davis is as big as any addition to any team in the 2019 NBA offseason. Davis is arguably the most talented player in the entire NBA and now he gets to pair up with the best NBA player of the past decade in LeBron James.
LeBron and AD now form one of the greatest duos in league history the minute they suit up and take the court together. Lakers fans are already getting the feeling of another elite championship tandem like Kobe-Gasol that won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010.
The Lakers front office also did a great job adding free agents that complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis very well. The signing of Danny Green gives the Lakers an elite shooter and floor spreader but also brings an elite defender that can guard the best perimeter players to take that responsibility off of LeBron James.
The Lakers also added great depth with the signings of Avery Bradley and Quinn Cook while also signing DeMarcus Cousins.
The Lakers top the list as being the team that made the biggest splash because, without hyperbole, the Lakers can go from not even making the postseason in 2019 to legitimately winning it all in 2020.
