Durant’s health

It’s no secret that a torn Achilles is one of the most horrific injuries an athlete can suffer. It is, in my opinion, the biggest villain in all of basketball and rarely anyone has ever come back from it the same.

Evidently, Kevin Durant can beat defenders in so many different ways that he does not always need to rely on his athleticism. However, even if he comes back just a tad slower than what we have seen from him thus far, it can have a significant effect on his dominance both around the perimeter and inside the paint.

Given what happened with his rushed, yet dramatic, return during last year’s NBA Finals, it’s safe to say that we may not see Durant in action at all during the 2019-20 season, even if he’s ready in time for the playoffs. Some may argue that it would be worth a shot to return if he feels ready by then but there is a lot that plays into it.

The NBA playoffs are incredibly intense and physical, while the game is played at a pace even faster than the regular season as expected. Durant has already been a victim of a “collectively” premature decision, I doubt anyone would want to make the same mistake again.
