Brooklyn Nets: Addressing the biggest concerns after securing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving
By Amin Golnabi
Team chemistry
All three of the blockbuster signings for the Brooklyn Nets this offseason have had locker room drama in the past. DeAndre Jordan seemed to be fed up towards the end of his tenure with the Clippers. Kyrie Irving demanded a trade from Cleveland in the most dramatic fashion after winning a championship in 2016 as he wanted to control his own destiny (Update: it did not go well for him).
Durant left OKC in a villain type of way and then had a lot of friction with Draymond Green over the last two years. What we as fans see from these superstars on the court during the game is magnificent, but what happens every day behind the scenes plays a significant role in a team’s success. On the contrary, we have seen it work before between guys that did not necessarily like each other.
Therefore, I’m sure even if Irving and Durant don’t become best buds they will still make the best decision for their team every possession as soon as the whistle is blown and the game starts. It will be a challenge though for coach Kenny Atkinson to create perfectly balanced morale in this team.
