2. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors

Considered by many to be the greatest shooter of all-time, Stephen Curry has experienced all of the highs as an NBA player. He’s won MVP’s (2), championships (3), and has made the All-NBA team six times.

However, the 2019-20 season may prove to be one of the more challenging seasons of the last five years. Two of the top four players from last year’s team, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, are no longer available, Durant due to leaving in free agency and Thompson because of an ACL tear during Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

The addition of All-Star point guard D’Angelo Russell will certainly take some of the pressure off of Curry, but he will still be the focus of opposing defenses night in and night out.

Curry averaged 27 pts, 5 rebs, and 5 assists in 72 games during the 2018 regular season. Despite having a nearly depleted squad during most of the playoffs, he rejuvenated the Warriors and showed the skills that made him the first unanimous MVP in 2015, averaging 28-5-5 during the Warriors run to the NBA Finals.

Many people feel that Curry will return to his old form in 2019, now that there is no Durant to share the ball with. Draymond Green and Russell are solid options, but without Herculean performances from Curry on a nightly basis, the Warriors will be a predictable team to gameplan against due to their lack of playmaking and inside presence. If Curry is able to get this current Warriors squad to a top 4 seed in the playoffs, he certainly will be in line for a 3rd MVP trophy in six years.
