NBA: 5 teams that took a step back in free agency this summer
By Kyle Crabbe
3. Toronto Raptors
2017-18 record: 58-24
Key additions:
Stanley Johnson, Dewan Hernandez
Key subtractions:
Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green
Fresh off the Toronto Raptors‘ first NBA championship in franchise history, the team is also coming off arguably their worst offseason in recent history. The Raptors won the Finals but lost Kawhi Leonard just a few weeks later.
After losing Kawhi, there’s a case to be made that the Raptors will see the biggest drop of the teams on this list. Toronto will go from being the favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference to perhaps just being a playoff contender.
Which begs the question, was it worth a championship in the end? I think most of the fan base would agree that it was.
