NBA Rumors: According to a recent report, Carmelo Anthony to the Los Angeles Lakers probably isn’t happening

Carmelo Anthony had a great NBA career, but the way that it has come to an abrupt end is nothing short of unfortunate. It might not be labeled as unfair, but the fact that Melo has been unable to find a landing spot for the twilight years of his career is sad.

Interestingly, it was reported – by The Athletic‘s Shams Charania – that the New York Knicks were expected to entertain the possibility of a reunion with Melo in the event that they would’ve landed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. As we now know, that didn’t happen. So, now, Melo is still searching for the “right” spot for him to end his career.

Now that the Knicks have officially moved on from that possibility, the most sensible landing spot for Melo remains the Los Angeles Lakers.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Not only does it make sense due to the fact that the Lakers still have some roster filling out to do, but also because he’s one of LeBron’s best friends in the league. Melo has been long rumored to the Lakers ever since LeBron signed with the Lakers and when Melo left Houston.

However, according to that same report from Shams, Melo to the Lakers is not happening. In the words of Shams, he labels it as an unlikely possibility. In other words, the Lakers aren’t interested in a past-his-prime big-name that still hasn’t come to the realization that he is indeed past his prime.

And, more often than not, that’s the worst type of big-name star. We saw this towards the tail-end of Allen Iverson‘s career and we might be seeing history repeat itself to a certain extent. And if you don’t know how Iverson’s NBA career ended, it wasn’t pretty.

Much like Melo’s end in Houston was.

Carmelo Anthony is talented and could probably still help a playoff hopeful, but it’s looking more and more like we’ve seen the end of him in the NBA.
