As we inch closer to the 2019-20 season, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers will headline the Christmas Day slate
The full 2019-20 NBA schedule is still yet to be released, but Friday afternoon the league’s Christmas Day slate was leaked. And, almost as expected, the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers are set to take center stage on one of the league’s biggest stage.
After quite the offseason haul, it’s no surprise that the Clippers – after adding both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George during the summer – are rewarded with a Christmas Day game. The Lakers, who added Anthony Davis and return LeBron James, are a worthy opponent.
The Clippers and Lakers are routinely one of the league’s best rivalries, and with what transpired this summer that intensity will only grow.

In addition to the Clippers and the Lakers squaring off on what many casual fans consider their NBA opening day, the Toronto Raptors will host the Boston Celtics and the New Orleans Pelicans will travel to face the Denver Nuggets.
The other two Christmas Day games include the Golden State Warriors clashing with the new-look Houston Rockets and is culminated by a power battle out East between the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
This is certainly a strong NBA slate, one of the strongest in recent memory. Considering that there is expected to be more parity this season than we’ve seen in a long time, that’s not exactly a surprise.
A few teams that could have a gripe, however, are the Brooklyn Nets – who made a huge splash in free agency this summer – the Miami Heat, the Indiana Pacers, Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz. Nevertheless, the NBA is so wide open right now that you could’ve had a seven-game slate without any gripes.
The 2019-20 NBA season is going to be one for the record books. The 2019 summer was just the beginning of potentially one historic campaign.
