The Los Angeles Clippers went from a young team on the rise to a team with championship aspirations after two big offseason acquisitions.

Kawhi Leonard, the reigning NBA Finals MVP and widely considered as a top-5 talent throughout the NBA, signed with the Clippers for three-years, $103 million. Considered as the best two-way player in the league, Leonard’s decision to return to his native California puts the Clippers in title contention.

However, to obtain the services, the Clippers knew they had to pull off another offseason deal, so they traded for Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George. Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and five first-round picks were needed to acquire George from the Thunder, and effectively secure the services of Leonard as well.

George, a six-time all-star and a 28 point per game scorer last season figures to slide into the No. 2 role behind Leonard. Both players will lead a core consisting of defensive stalwart Patrick Beverley, board man Montrezl Harrell, scorer Lou Williams, and rising sharpshooter Landry Shamet.

Along with the Lakers, the Clippers showed that the battle for supremacy in LA will be competitive and fierce. After finishing 48-34 and losing in the first round of the playoffs to Golden State, expectations for the Clippers are at an all-time high.
