Breaking down seven of the most under-the-radar signings from the 2019 NBA summer
The 2019 NBA summer once again produced one of the most eventful times of the year for the league. Headlined by free agency, the offseason provides each team with the opportunity to improve and pivot as a franchise, where they can change the outlook and future for themselves.
While all the attention has surrounded the big-name signings as of late, and rightfully so, there are a number of other “under-the-radar” signings that could have a significant impact during the 2019-20 season.
Let’s take a look at the seven best under-the-radar signings from the summer, beginning with JJ Redick heading south.
JJ Redick, New Orleans Pelicans
Position: SG
Age: 35
The New Orleans Pelicans did a good job signing one of the NBA’s premier shooters to a reasonable deal (2-years, $26M). Redick is still one of the best shooters and floor spreaders the NBA currently has to offer and will be a huge asset for the young Pelicans. Not to mention an ideal running mate to stick next to Lonzo Ball and Jrue Holiday.
Redick is a great value signing for the Pelicans and will be a huge component for the team both on and off the floor. He will provide veteran leadership and some much-needed scoring either off the bench or in the starting unit. New Orleans might be young, but this team will have the talent to compete for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
