Willie Cauley-Stein, Golden State Warriors
Position: C
Age: 25
One of the better under-the-radar signings during the 2019 NBA offseason was the Golden State Warriors landing Willie Cauley-Stein. WCS is an interesting young, talent big man that simply didn’t fit the direction that the Sacramento Kings were heading.
In the end, it was best for him to move on from the Kings. Sacramento’s loss is Golden State’s gain as he could develop into being an effective piece for the Warriors this season, who were already thin in the frontcourt heading into the summer.
Cauley-Stein plays a very similar game to former Warriors center JaVale McGee, so it was easy to see why he’d be a nice fit on the team.
At only 25 years old, WCS still has a chance to blossom into the player that many expected him to be coming out of Kentucky. And playing with the supreme talent of the Warriors will only help his cause to make a jump as a contributor in the NBA. Learning next to Draymond Green, there’s no question that there’s a chance that the 2015 SEC Defensive Player of the Year can become a force for the Warriors in the near future.
