2018-19 stats: 22.9 ppg, 10.7 assists, 11.1 rebounds

Beast mode. That’s the best description for Russell Westbrook. Every time he steps on the court, he gives 110 percent. By his numbers alone, that’s pretty clear. After a long career in OKC, including eight all-star appearances, Westbrook has now joined forces in Houston with his former teammate, James Harden.

Last season was Westbrook’s third consecutive campaign where he has averaged a triple-double, the only player to do it for three straight years in NBA history. For the second straight season, he also led the league in assists, while also leading amongst point guards in rebounds. At just 6-foot-3, his athleticism is through the roof. 11.1 rebounds per contest at the point guard position reflects exactly that.

He does turn the ball over quite often, but his offensive output is too good to even notice the turnovers. He is explosive, fearless, and isn’t afraid to put his body on the line in order to score. Thanks to his desire to always drive to the hoop, he draws defenders towards him which opens up teammates. This is a huge reason he racks up so many assists.

It should be interesting to see how Westbrook fares playing alongside Harden. Back when they played in OKC, they were both early in their careers and different players. Now, they are both ball-dominant guards. If they can form a unique partnership where they can both score and facilitate to one another, it could be very entertaining to watch.
