As the 2019-20 NBA season inches closer, we rank the top 10 shooting guards heading into the new campaign

Before we can pick a top 10 shooting guards heading into the 2019-20 NBA season, we must first clarify who is a shooting guard and who is not.

While at times James Harden runs the show and acts like the Rockets point guard, for our list, he is going to be a shooting guard. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Jayson Tatum need not apply, they should be listed with the small forwards. Klay Thompson is recovering from an ACL injury, but I am putting him on this list because I believe he is going to come back at some point this upcoming NBA season.

So with that in mind, let’s get straight to business and let’s pick our top 10 shooting guards in the NBA. In the comments, feel free to let us know who would be in your top 10, in the event that I may have missed any.

10. Khris Middleton, Milwaukee Bucks

Stats: 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists

It is tough to say for sure if Khris Middleton is a great player or if he is a benefactor of being a teammate to Giannis Antetokounmpo. Either way, he plays with Giannis and if he continues his great play, look for the Milwaukee Bucks to make some serious noise in next year’s playoffs.

Middleton is a spectacular shooter who spreads out the court for Giannis to get to the basket. He is a decent defender and gets to the rim just good enough for team’s to have to respect his ability to drive the basketball.

9. DeMar DeRozan, San Antonio Spurs

Stats: 21.2 points, 6.2 assists, 6.0 rebounds

DeMar DeRozan had a tough year last year. His former team, the Toronto Raptors, won the NBA title, and the player that he was traded for, Kawhi Leonard, became the NBA’s belle of the ball. While it had to have been a hard year for DeRozan, the man is still a sensational basketball player.

DeRozan is a solid defensive player, has a great mid-range game, and is great at getting to the basket. If he ever developed a better shot from deep, he would find himself shooting up this list, but instead, he finds himself shooting bricks from deep and stuck at the bottom of the top 10.
