7. Marvin Bagley, Sacramento Kings

Sacramento Kings‘ big man Marvin Bagley had a huge statistical rookie season last year. Although he was largely overshadowed by Luka Doncic and Trae Young, Bagley still put up around 15 points and seven boards for a Kings squad who almost slipped into the playoffs.

Very impressive for a rookie. And the scary part is, he still has a lot of room to grow.

He’s still a below-average 3-point shooter but despite a rather slow release, his form looks good and his free throw improvement is another sign that he’s only going to become more proficient from the outside.

The defensive side of the court is another area Bagley needs to sure up but he does have the physical tools to at least be a strong positive on that end. Maybe adding a little more bulk to his frame will help in that regard.

The other main question with Bagley, heading into his sophomore season is whether he will be a starter or reserve to start the year.

And a lot of that depends on which position he will spend the majority of the time playing. He certainly can play center, but at this point, I think he’s better suited at the floor which makes an improved outside stroke all the more important.

In any case, Bagley is going to have a big role next year and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him average around 18 and 9 while showing a greater sense of comfort on the court.
