3. Los Angeles Lakers

Any team with the greatest player in the league right now will always have a shot at championship stardom. LeBron James‘ first stint in LA didn’t go as planned for both the Los Angeles Lakers and their disappointed fanbase. When fans protest in front of your home stadium upset with how the season’s going even after acquiring a superstar like LeBron James you know something needs to change.

And change is what they did. LA dumped almost all their picks and young core to trade for top 5 player in the league Anthony Davis. AD and LeBron are enough to take their team to the postseason, but the depth, or what’s left of it is worrisome. The Lakers also signed All-Star DeMarcus Cousins only to have him tear his ACL in offseason training. They also acquired Danny Green who just won his second championship with Kawhi.

The Lakers had high hopes for free agency with a lot of cap room but fell short of their expectations. They re-signed some guys and grabbed some decent role players but fell short of signing any big names. This could prove to be doom for the Lakers if they’re to be matched up with a deep team such as the Clippers.
