Oklahoma City Thunder

How will they approach the Chris Paul situation?

This summer kind of too the Oklahoma City Thunder by storm, as they entered the offseason as one of the few contenders in the Western Conference but left it as nothing more than a potential playoff team. Paul George forced his way out of OKC (to LA) and the team elected to move Russell Westbrook to the Rockets.

The big question that the Thunder will have to answer this season is whether or not they will trade Chris Paul before the end of the season. I believe it would probably be in the best interest to move him, but the market for CP3 isn’t exactly robust. Which could lead OKC just keeping Paul on the roster until further notice.

Expect the Thunder to comb over the market for Paul quietly as the season unfolds. But, make no mistake, there’s no question that this team would love to move on from Paul sooner rather than later. The Thunder need to sell a game plan for its fans, and there’s no way it can include Paul.

And that’s not a knock on Paul. He’s still a good player, but just isn’t a great fit for what the Thunder will be building.
