10) Dallas Mavericks

Projected Starters: Delon Wright, Luka Doncic, Tim Hardaway Jr., Kristaps Porzingis, Dwight Powell

Projected High Minute Bench Players: Jalen Brunson, Seth Curry, Maxi Kleber, Boban Marjanovic

This isn’t to say the Dallas Mavericks were wise to pay Powell and Kleber nearly a combined $80 million, but it does allow them to say they have multiple quality backup bigs, and the addition of Curry provides flamethrower shooting to accompany an already above average backup point guard in Brunson.

Even as the Mavericks not-so-subtly began tanking in February, their bench produced at a just above average level. Expect them to remain above average this season.

9) Orlando Magic

Projected Starters: D.J. Augustin, Evan Fournier, Jonathan Isaac, Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic

Projected High Minute Bench Players: Terrence Ross, Al-Faruq Aminu, Mo Bamba

I’m not expecting anything of our Markelle Fultz, to be clear, though it is totally reasonable to expect him to play 25 minutes per game and produce like a solid backup point guard. The Orlando Magic had a quiet summer, re-signing their only free agents of importance (Vucevic and Ross).

Adding a career starter (Faruq-Aminu) to a team with a league-average bench last season should see them rise.
