Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards have made it pretty clear that they don’t have any interest in trading Beal. So in other words, Beal is going to have to make this ugly if he wants to get out of there, but that’s the path I think we’re headed towards.

Beal is coming off of the best year of his career, he’s entering his prime (26 years old), and apparently did something terrible in a past life because he’s stuck on a team who won’t win many games and has been historically inept when it comes to building a roster. I can’t imagine Beal is going to be happy wasting some of his best years on a team this bad, and the blueprint for getting out has already been set.

Beal still has two years left on his current deal before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, but so did Anthony Davis. It’s certainly not easy to get out when you have a contract, but if Beal makes this ugly the same way that Davis did, the Wizards will have to at least strongly consider it. From the Wizards perspective, the only thing worse than trading Beal would be to not trade him and lose him for free in 2021. Time to do the right thing, Washington.
