Marcin Gortat

Marcin Gortat was an option the Lakers were considering before signing Dwight, but should the Lakers and Dwight paring go sour, Gortat will likely still be available. Currently, he’s playing overseas, but if he were to decide to come back into the NBA, he can serve as a big body to use against a team like Denver or Portland.

In his prime, Gortat was a very underrated center: he had a decent post-game, could rim-roll and was no slouch on defense either. If Gortat can just give half of the production he showed early on in his career – even the level of production he showed his last season in Washington would be fine – it could only help.

Though, I’m not sure the Lakers would be crazy signing another stiff that is probably well beyond his prime and no longer as valuable in today’s game as he once was.
