NBA Rumors: Orlando Magic not interested in trading Jonathan Isaac
NBA Rumors: The Orlando Magic reportedly don’t have any interest in trading Jonathan Isaac, who the team reportedly loves
To say that the Orlando Magic have struggled to hit on their recent draft picks would be an understatement. However, they aren’t exactly throwing in the towel on any of them either. And one that the team could be going all-in on is Jonathan Isaac.
Isaac hasn’t had the best of starts to his young NBA career. In fact, you could make the argument that he’s actually been disappointing through his first two seasons in the league. Though, he did show glimpses of promise during his second season with the club.
During his sophomore campaign with the team, Isaac averaged 10 points and six rebounds while shooting 43 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range. The biggest jump thus far could come this season, as most promising young players develop by their third season. To say this is an important season for Isaac’s development would be an understatement.

The good news is that the Magic appear sold on giving Isaac every opportunity he needs to develop into the star that they believed he’d be coming out of college. So much so, that they’re turning down any and all trade inquiries revolving around Isaac. Which is exactly what the Magic should be doing.
"[via ESPN]It’s hard to overstate how much the Magic love Isaac. They have batted away any Isaac trade inquiries, sources say. He has quickly become a standard-bearer of the culture president Jeff Weltman and GM John Hammond want to nurture."
This is not the time to give up on Isaac even if he hasn’t been everything the Magic hoped he’d be. Isaac is still just 21 years old and likely has the best basketball of his career still in front of him. Though, if Isaac is going to have a breakout season he needs the organization behind him.
And, from everything reported thus far, that appears to be the case. That is great news for this team and its potential development.
The Magic are an intriguing team to keep an eye on this season. They are coming off their first playoff appearance in nearly a decade and are returning roughly the same team. Orlando is young, talented and could barely be scratching the surface on what this team could be in the future.
