In our latest edition of our NBA Power Rankings, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers emerge as true championship threats
The 2019 NBA offseason will go down as one of the most chaotic and exciting summers in recent history. From Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joining the Los Angeles Clippers to Anthony Davis being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, there was no shortage of big names on the move.
And while we’ve certainly reached a quiet point in the summer, there’s still a chance we could see another big name (Chris Paul) moved before the start of the season. With the NBA undergoing a bit of a facelift, there is a lot to unwrap and break down before the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
There is a new hierarchy in the league and new contenders that have emerged in both the Eastern and Western Conferences.
Here is an updated look at our NBA Power Rankings after a historic offseason.
30. Charlotte Hornets
Marquee summer move: Losing Kemba Walker
Not only did the Charlotte Hornets lost Kemba Walker in free agency, but they followed that move up by overpaying for Terry Rozier. All in all, it was an offseason to forget for the Hornets. And at the moment, this team is nothing more than an afterthought heading into the 2019-20 campaign.
Charlotte has a long rebuild ahead of them, and no clear direction at the moment. The only good thing they still have going for them is that Michael Jordan hasn’t jumped ship. However, based on some of the basketball decisions that have been made over the last few seasons, perhaps he would do this franchise a favor by doing just that.
