R.J. Barrett, New York Knicks

The former Duke product was selected third overall by the New York Knicks. R.J. Barrett will look to use his guard-like skills and 6-foot-7 size to, at least, make the Knicks bearable to watch this season.

Sorry for that one Knicks fans.

New York has done horribly in recent years when it comes to acquiring talent. Luckily, they were able to draft R.J. Barrett in this year’s draft.

After averaging 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, the Canadian athlete will battle throughout the entire season to single-handedly bring the Knicks back into NBA relevancy. With two preseason games under his belt, he’s averaged 16 points and seven rebounds.

R.J. Barrett is a solid player possessing superstar potential along with the versatility to play positions one through three; even four, if necessary. In a small sample size, when he’s made his mind up to drive the ball to the hole, he’s a been a tough cover for individual defenders.

Once the 19-year-old establishes a consistent jumper then there’s no telling what kind of havoc he can cause in the league. He’s currently shooting an unexpected 36 percent from 3 after two games – currently shooting above last year’s league average.

As it stands, Barrett’s lack of a consistent jumper and weak right-hand dribble hasn’t caused any sign of slowing down at all. New York is going to love him and his play will inspire other great players to want to team up.

New York has finally found itself a franchise player that has indulged itself in the culture of the Knicks. Rookie of the Year is in sight for R.J. Barrett this year. And if his recent play is of any indication, then he should have a good claim to receive the award.
