Terry Rozier

Terry Rozier has been a backup point guard in Boston since he was drafted by the Celtics with the 16th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He was first a backup to Isaiah Thomas for two years and then was a backup to Irving for two years, but he got his chance to shine in 2017-18 when Irving went down with an injury at the end of the regular season.

Rozier took over the starting job and became “Scary Terry” in the playoffs. He helped lead the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Cavs in seven games. Rozier averaged 16 points and six assists per game in the playoffs during that unlikely run.

Last year Rozier, 25, went back to the bench behind Irving, but Celtics fans knew that Rozier would leave once he became a free agent at the end of the 2018-19 season. That’s exactly what he did as Rozier took his talents to Charlotte where he will be the starting point guard this year, taking over for Walker.

Rozier would like nothing more to show Hornets fans that he can take the team farther than Walker ever did and make the Celtics wish they made him the heir apparent at the point.
