NBA Rumors: Could Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield be the next big-name to be traded?

The Sacramento Kings offered Buddy Hield a nice $90 million extension, but it wasn’t one that was of his liking. It was reportedly $20 million short of what Hield was expecting/believes he’s worth.

He took it a step further by putting his name on such belief, stating that he felt “insulted” by the extension offered by the Kings.

"“I see it like an insult,” Hield said. “I feel like I’m worth more than that. If you say I’m your guy and you want to build around me, I just need you to show it. Actions speak louder than words. If you’re just talking and not showing nothing, I’m not going to respect it. I love playing here. I want to be here. This is my home. I’m trying to buy a house here, but everything is on stall mode because I don’t know if they’ll really commit to me.”"

Hield will be a restricted free agent after the season and would be able to sign an offer sheet with any team. Of course, the Kings would have the final say on where he lands as they would have the ability to match any offer sheet for up to three days.

However, if the Kings sit tight on their $90 million extension offer, perhaps there is a very real chance that Hield could leave in free agency. There has to be a team out there willing to take a chance on Hield, who is coming off a season in which he averaged 21 points and five rebounds on 46 percent shooting from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range.

If the Kings know that and they don’t want to pay him the money that Hield is asking for, perhaps they could take some calls on the young shooter. Even though it would make absolutely no sense, considering Hield is part of this team’s young core.

Nevertheless, this is the Kings we are talking about and when it comes to Sacramento, the head-scratching move is never out of the realm of possibility.

The big question for the Kings remains: do you want to throw another big-money deal at Hield after paying nearly $90 million to Harrison Barnes? Perhaps it’s not an easy decision to make after all.
