Miami Heat
Breakout candidate: Bam Adebayo
The Miami Heat are headed into the 2019-20 NBA season with the type of optimism that we haven’t seen since the days Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh roamed the sideline for this team. While most of it is due to the team acquiring Jimmy Bulter over the summer, there is one young player that could be in line for a huge season.
That is none other than Bam Adebayo, who has to be considered this team’s best bet for a breakout season. Bam is entering his third season with the club and has shown promise sprinkled in through his first two years in the NBA. Now, though, he’ll actually be given the opportunity to start and blossom as a star.
Plus, year three is when most budding stars breakout. If Bam is going to be the player that many expect him to be, we’re going to start seeing signs of it this year. Remember the jump that Pascal Siakam made last year, which netted him a max-contract extension this summer? Well, perhaps not to that level, but we could see something similar from Bam this season with the Heat.
