Breakout candidate: Josh Okogie

I would be a heck a lot easier if the answer to this question was Andrew Wiggins, for both the fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the front office. However, as unfair as it may seem, I simply don’t believe Wiggins is up to the task. For some reason, he just hasn’t been able to put it all together.

Nevertheless, the real breakout candidate for the Wolves this season has to be Josh Okogie. Okogie flashed at times last season and really injected this franchise with some hope. For an organization that has seen their young players fall short of expectations time and time again, Okogie was a pleasant surprise last season. As a late first-round pick, Okogie averaged eight points per game during his rookie season for the Wolves.

While the efficiency wasn’t there for a rookie, the hope is that he could eventually blossom into a player that can be efficient on the offensive end as much as he is on the defensive end. Okogie has the potential to be a good two-way player, which is something the Wolves could desperately use at the moment.
