7.Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis

Now, in a few years’ time, this duo could very well top any “big 2” list but at the moment, there are still a couple of question marks, namely Porzingis’ health.

Anytime a guy suffers an ACL tear, it’s cause for concern, especially when that guy is 7-foot-3 tall but Kristaps is in about the best situation possible to make a full recovery. And a lot of that has to do with the sheer brilliance of Doncic.

Luka will be the focal point of the Mavs’ offense which will allow Porzingis to ease himself back. Thanks to his deadeye jump shot and towering frame, Kristaps can still be effective solely as a pick and pop and stand still shooter. Then once he gets his legs back under him and is back to 100%, Dallas will have two of the most dynamic young shot creators we’ve seen in a long, long time.

And their games should gel perfectly.

Doncic’s vision, basketball IQ and all-around feel for the game, coupled with his almost-unparalleled craftiness (he reminds me a lot of Manu Ginobili in this respect) alongside Porzingis’ limitless array of scoring weapons and sheer size (which helps on both ends), and you have a 1-2 punch that – if things work out – can win a championship at some point in the future.
