5. Stephen Curry and D’Angelo Russell
Of course, Russell would be replaced by Klay Thompson but since the other splash bro is going to miss most of next season – and we don’t know quite how he’ll recover yet – I’ve had to leave him out for now.
But while Curry and Russell may have their issues on defense at times, they should be a deadly duo on offense. And it also helps to have Draymond Green on your team to cover up defensive missteps.
The addition of Russell will allow Steph to play more off the ball and act more like a two-guard (the position he played in college) and since he’s one of the best and most active off-ball players we’ve ever seen, this shouldn’t be all that much of a difficult transition.
There may be a slight adjustment period for D’Angelo but his elite shot-creating and passing vision should be a very welcome addition to this revamped Golden State offense.
Expect to see a lot of pick and rolls – and a lot of points – from this duo. And thanks to the other moves the Warriors made this summer, the Dubs should be right back in the playoff race in the west – and they should be competing to win it all once Klay makes it back to 100 percent.
