Brandon Ingram was a guy who had a lot of hype around him when was he was drafted second overall in the 2016 draft. And for good reason. He was a tremendous player at Duke. In his first three years in Los Angeles, Ingram took a small step each season. But this year, Ingram is one of the primary playmakers on an exciting young team in New Orleans. And he has the potential to take that next step to an All-Star level player.
Following the theme with the rest of the players noted, Ingram is averaging a career-high in essentially every category. He is averaging 27 points, eight rebounds, and five assists per game. Those numbers are up from 18, 5, and 3 last season in LA.
Ingram is also shooting a career-high from the floor and behind the arc, all while taking five more shots a game than he did last year (all of the 3-point shots, by the way). Ingram is on fire to begin this young season, and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

And while Ingram has been on this tear, the Pelicans have been without their much-anticipated rookie Zion Williamson. Without Zion on the floor, the Pelicans have needed someone to be their primary scorer. And so far this season, Ingram has been it. If Zion misses even more time than is expected, Ingram’s run could continue for months on end, as he continues to be the playmaker in New Orleans. And this could result in Brandon Ingram making his first All-Star appearance this season.
