NBA in Threes: Devin Booker drops 40; Lakers are red-hot

Brooklyn Nets
First of all, I just have to take a moment to say that I love Brooklyn’s grey floor scheme this season. Part of it is the fact that it’s just cool. But along with the theatre lighting they use at Barclay Center (which I loved from day one) it’s just so much easier on my eyes when watching the game at home.
Okay, down to business.
The Brooklyn Nets are still a bit of a question mark for me this season and this is the first time I’ve had the chance to see them play. Although Brooklyn’s record is a bit better, I really wouldn’t have argued with someone who picked the New Orleans Pelicans to win this game.
If you take just the Nets’ offensive performance, they look pretty good. Joe Harris is shooting just ridiculously well from range. In fact, coming into this game, he was the only player other than Steph Curry to make three or more three-point shots in the first six games of a season. By the end of this game, he’d extended that to eight games on his way to 19 points on 4-9 shooting from long-range.
Kyrie Irving also did his thing with 39 points, nine assists, and three steals. I mean, what else can I say? What else needs to be said? Kyrie is in the zone. That said, Kyrie also led the team in turnovers with 5 of the teams 23 in the game.
The glaring problem with the Nets’ game right now is their defense. There’s no reason that the Nets should have been up 20 points in the third quarter and have the Pelicans within five points late in the game.
Yes, the Nets came away with the win. But were I on Brooklyn’s coaching staff there would be some things from this game to discuss that would fall under the category of, “Things we have to do better”.
